ANTONINA DACKIW "GRANNY" Peacefully, on September 17, 2003, with family at her side, Antonina Dackiw passed away at Kin Place Personal Care Home, Oakbank, MB. She was 94 years of age. Antonina was the much loved mother of Borden (Ethel), devoted Granny to Cathy Sheppit, Linda Balon ( Ed ), Alan Dackiw (Elizabeth), Steven Dackiw (Marni), and proud great-grandmother of Jackie Zacharias and Julia and Benjamin Dackiw. Mom was born on March 24, 1909 in Nowy Dwur, Western Ukraine. Orphaned at an early age, she immigrated to Canada in 1926 when she was 17 years old. She married Paul Dackiw in 1928, and they were blessed with two sons, Peter and Borden. "Granny" was a devoted mother, who took great pride in her family, home, flowers and vegetable garden. Her holobci and perogies were enjoyed by all, and her various recipes are part of her legacy. Family was Grannys life. She supported all her grandchildrens endeavours, and was their greatest fan. We all have many happy memories of holiday meals at Grannys house, and the special times spent with her. "Thank You Sweetie" Antonina was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1965, son Peter in 1984, daughter-in-law Ruby in 1985, and an infant grandson Robert in 1962. Sincerest appreciation and thanks to the staff at Kin Place for their care, compassion and friendship over the past three years. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. also at the Chapel with Rev. Fr. Mikhail Kouts officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons, Alan and Steven Dackiw, Edward Balon, Mervin Sul, Albert Bosiak, and Robert Zacharias. If friends so desire, flowers may be sent to Cropo Funeral Chapel, or a donation may be made to a charity of choice. VICHNAYA PAMYAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
