JOHN SWARYCHEWSKI Peacefully, surrounded by his family, John Swarychewski, aged 80 years, beloved husband of Sonia Swarychewski of Poplarfield passed away on Friday, September 19, 2003 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg. John is lovingly remembered by his wife Sonia, children, Diane (Bill), Orest (Melody) and Cynthia (Trevor) grandchildren, Sherisse (Dean), Colin, Shelby, Chloe and Kristina; sister Olga Walashek and numerous nieces and nephews. John was born March 18, 1923 in Poplarfield. On October 20, 1951 he married Sonia Zuk and they raised their family in Poplarfield while farming. John loved music and listening to the Polka Party and Zabava faithfully. During his youthful years he played the violin and drums in a band. In later years he took up playing the Dulcimer. He loved entertaining company, and was always keeping an eye out the window for anyone stopping by for "coffee". John also found enjoyment in woodworking. The family would like to thank Dr. Patel and the nursing staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital Level 3 Unit 4 for the excellent care given to John and the family. Prayers will be held on Monday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23 at the Poplarfield Community Hall, Poplarfield. The Very Rev. John Melnyk will officiate with interment to follow at the Poplarfield Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Fiarchuk, Armin Glas, David Zuk, Jim Danish, Jim Zuk and Bruce Blahey. Everyone in attendance at the service is considered an honorary pallbearer. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Seven Oaks Hospital.
