HELEN TURCAN (KOSTIUK) After a courageous battle with cancer, peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2003 at Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side, Helen Turcan, passed away at the age of 70 years, of Malonton, MB. Born in Malonton on September 25, 1932. She lived her whole life in Malonton. Mom had a love for life. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Marys Protectress Church in Malonton and also a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Komarno. Surviving to mourn her loss, her children and grandchildren, Joe (Irene), Kelci and Brenna Turcan of St. Andrews, Mary Ann (Eugene) Tyler and Brendan Zubriski of Vidir, Bob (Bernadette), Adrian, Lynsey and Nicholas Turcan of Malonton, Janet (Rob), Seabe Murray of Warren; sister Mary Samos of Penticton, BC; brothers, Joe Kostiuk of Malonton, Stanley (Judy) Kostiuk of Gimli; sister-in-law Ruth Kostiuk of Gimli, Ollie Kostiuk of Winnipeg and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1979; parents, John and Joanna Kostiuk; sisters, Emily Paleshnuik, Kay Russell, Caroline Wozlowski, Jean Leskiw; infant sister Jean; brothers, Mike, Rudy, Walter, Louie, Robert Kostiuk. Prayers will be said on Monday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Komarno. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Komarno. Fr. Peter Chorney will officiate and interment will follow at the St. Marys Protectress Cemetery, Malonton. Pallbearers will be Rob Murray, Eugene Zubriski, Tyler Zubriski, Brendan Zubriski, Adrian Turcan and Walter Skazyk. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynsey, Nicholas, Kelci and Brenna Turcan, Kitsa and Seabe Murray. Mom / Baba You led a simple but beautiful life on the farm. Your children, grandchildren and pets were always your main concern. You never complained about anything and your strength was amazing, even right till the end. Your strong faith in God will definitely give you a front seat in heaven. Your kindness, generosity, warm smile and happy laugh will be dearly missed. We are so blessed to have known you, loved you and been loved by you. Now you can rest in peace and be with Dad once again. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. McTaggart and nursing staff at the Teulon Memorial Hospital for their loving care and also to Dr. Harris (Grace Hospital), Dr. Chapnick and chemo nurses at the Gimli Community Health Centre.
