Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIS (BILL) H. DAVIS April 19, 1916 - September 20, 2003 It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather at the Grace Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Dad retained his dignity and wonderful sense of humour till the end. Bill was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, (Les and John) and three sisters (Hazel, Beryl and Doris). Left to cherish his memory is Myrtle Davis, mother of Lynda (Bob) Askew; grandchildren, Andrea (Tracy) Cox, Andrew and Rob (Shana) Askew; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Ryan, Crystal; and best friend and companion Merle Serada. Bill was born in Ft. Rouge, growing up on Carlaw Street and attending Kelvin High School. He served his country in the Second World War with the 18th Armoured Car Regiment, Manitoba Dragoons from 1942 to 1945. He enjoyed a long successful career as a pharmaceutical representative with Ames/Bayer, retiring in 1980. For many years his leisure time revolved around the cottage at Whytewold Beach, travel and more recently the over 60 club at St. Andrews Anglican Church. There were many happy times with family and friends. Bill had a beautiful singing voice and always found something to sing about (when he wasnt whistling) until his illness left him breathless. Our great relief is that he does not have to suffer anymore. The family extends thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital, 3rd and 4th floors for their care and kindness. According to Bills wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral. A private graveside family service is planned. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Bills name to a charity of ones choice.
