JOHN ALEXANDER SCOTT BROADFOOT September 24, 1919 - September 21, 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Alexander Scott Broadfoot, our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on September 21, 2003. John died peacefully with his family at his bedside three days before his 84th birthday. We are happy to say that we had the chance to celebrate an early birthday on September 20th with all his immediate family there. This was truly a gift! Left to mourn Johns passing are his wife Jonina (Nina) his son Numi (Diane), Jordana and Jesse; his daughter-in-law Dawn (Al), Brandee; his son Rick (Melody), Mason and Rhiannon; his daughter Kathryn (Earl) Steinthorson, Daryl, Sheryl (Myles) Steinthorson-Taylor and Colby; his son Grant (Lorna), Kimberley, Kayla, Kristyn, Kari and Kelcey; sister Helen Sutton; sisters-in-law, Jenny Broadfoot and Vera Broadfoot; brother-in-law Numi Stefanson; sisters-in-law, Onie Giggins, Aurora (Fred) Abrahamson, Kris (John) Kowalczuk and Yvonne (Lloyd) Christianson; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. John was predeceased by two sons, Vincent (1984) and James (1994) and by his grandson Tyler (2001) as well as his parents, George and Lena; his sister Mary; and his brothers, Pat and George. John was born in the house where he presently lived. He farmed for most of his life and was happiest when he was milking cows and farming. He often said the best times of his life were when his children were young and all at home. He worked at Red River College from 1971 to his retirement in 1984. He was a past member of the Woodlands Hall Board, and a school board trustee prior to consolidation. John was a storyteller and could entertain with stories of the good old days for hours. His stories will be missed by many. Some used to say he should write a book of all his stories. Gardening was a true passion for John. He enjoyed every part of gardening from the first seed being planted to pulling the weeds to picking all the vegetables, washing them so they were ready to be cooked for supper or for freezing. The garden was half the size this year because the kids couldnt keep up with it. John loved to hear or tell a good joke right up to the end. Friends may call from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24 at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodlands Hall. Interment will follow at St. Georges Cemetery, Woodlands. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
