PATRICIA AGNES McCART (PALAMARCHUK) AUNTIE PAT On Monday, September 22, 2003 after a brief illness, Auntie Pat has left us to join our Heavenly Father. Throughout her life Patricia lived, laughed and loved with her entire heart and soul, there were no half measures for Auntie Pat. Patricia entered the world on New Years Day, 1911. She spent her childhood on the farm in Silver, MB with her parents, Paul and Mary Palamarchuk, her brothers, Mike, Bill, John and sister Billie Kae. Early in life various illnesses caused permanent damage to Patricias hearing-radical surgery when she was an adult, was unable to restore her hearing. For over 60 years, Patricia used a combination of sign language, lip reading and an external body hearing aid to attempt to hear. This never stopped Auntie Pat from living her life to the fullest. Always fiercely independent she lived in various parts of Canada, worked in the dry-cleaning industry in Halifax, owned and managed a rental property in Windsor, ON. At the age of 50 she moved to Detroit, Michigan and married Clarence P. McCart whom she assisted with commission work in retail carpeting. They had a full and active life full of adventures travelling throughout U.S.A., Bahamas, Caribbean, and Mexico. But no matter where she went, Auntie Pat always returned home to visit with her loved ones in Manitoba. In between visits there were cards and letters and none of us will ever forget her famous "parcels" which contained what appeared to be, an endless amount of articles that were an amazing mixture of what we needed or wanted. Auntie Pat received great pleasure in helping people, be it charities, friends or family. Though she never had children of her own, she loved and supported emotionally and financially, through good times and bad, three generations of nieces and nephews as they went through the various aspects of their lives. Following her husbands death in August 2000, Auntie Pat returned home to her family in the spring of 2001 and resided in Clandeboye, MB with her great niece and her husband, Wendy and Ziggy Smolinski. For the past three years Auntie Pat has continued to be her undauntable self, attending church, going out for suppers, attending family functions, helping with household chores and doing her word searches. Though Auntie Pat was in her 90s her spirit was eternally youthful. Her spirit will be with us always. Auntie Pat was predeceased by her husband Clarence, parents, siblings, her niece Anne Shynkarchuk and her nephew Paul Palamarchuk. Auntie Pat is survived by numerous family members in Canada and the U.S.A. Pallbearers will be Auntie Pats nephews. Prayers will be said on Wednesday (tonight), September 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 25 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Silver, MB. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Donations may be made in Patricias memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or St. John the Baptist Church, Silver, MB. VICHNAYA PAMYAT Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
