ANN WISHLOW (nee STEELE) Peacefully with her family by her side our mother passed away after a lengthy illness on September 24, 2003 at the age of 64. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three children, Larry (Leslie), Brenda (Brent) and Allan; grandchildren, Alexander, Eric, Michael and Kelsey; her brothers and sisters, Veronica (sis) (Tommy), Michael (Bev), Kay (Archie), Billy (Erval), Norma (Jim), Gertie (Ernie), David, and their families. Ann was predeceased by her husband Lawrence in 1980, her parents Christine and Michael, and a brother Dougie. Ann was born on June 17, 1939 in Glace Bay, NS and moved to Toronto in 1956, where she pursued and excelled in a career in banking. While in Toronto she met and married her husband Lawrence in 1960. Eventually their careers led them to settle in Selkirk, MB in 1976. After the untimely passing of her husband, Ann moved to Winnipeg to continue working for the Royal Bank. She was a dedicated and hardworking individual who was well respected by her colleagues and customers. She was adored by her customers for her kindness and friendly smile. Ann retired in June of 1998 and moved to Lockport, MB where she helped her daughter with her newly born triplets. Anns grandchildren were her pride and joy. "Nanny", as they called her, had a special relationship with each one of them. Ann was a devoted mother who always gave unlimited time to her family. Her friends enjoyed many good times with her as well. She was an avid card player, brilliant at crossword puzzles, loved her scrabble, and knew and sang countless nursery rhymes to her grandchildren. Mom was kind, compassionate, had amazing energy and a real zest for life. Brave and courageous throughout her illness, she will be fondly loved and remembered by all who knew her. Sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff on N3E at the Concordia Hospital, you know who you are. Your caring and compassion for our mother will not be forgotten. Thank you also to Dr. Harris and to Anns many friends and our extended family who supported us during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held to honor Anns memory on Friday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with Rev. Ken Pawluk officiating. Cremation has taken place, with interment in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anns memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. May the road rise up to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face And rains fall soft upon your fields And until we meet again May God hold you in the hollow of His hand. Gilbart Funeral home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
