ABRAM T. WIEBE February 20, 1916 - September 22, 2003 Peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2003, Abram passed away in the Morris General Hospital at the age of 87 years after a struggle with liver cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years of marriage, Helena, and their seven children; Caroline Lachance (Paul), Abe (Evelyn), Edward, Irene Mazur (John), Elmer, Norman (Lorna), and Lorraine Martens (Robert). Also mourning his loss are his 13 grandchildren, Brian Mazur, Melissa Wiebe, Lisa Lachance, Amanda Mazur, Daniel Lachance, Matthew Martens, Ashley Wiebe, Raymond Wiebe, Kimberley Martens, Jonathan Wiebe, Amber Wiebe, Phillip Wiebe and Zachray Wiebe, as well as many nieces and nephews. Abram was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Helena Wiebe; three brothers, Cornelius, Henry and Jake, and one sister Suzanna. Abram was born on February 20, 1916 and grew up on the family farm near Lowe Farm. He was the second youngest of five children. He was a family man with dignity and always had positive values. Abram enjoyed hunting, playing guitar and harmonica, and always looked forward to planting a huge garden each year. He also loved to play pool with his sons. During the Second World War Abram served in the Canadian Armed Forces. On September 2, 1951 Abram married Helena Dueck of Main Centre, SK. They raised seven children and for the past 45 years has resided in Morris. Abram has worked at numerous construction jobs in the Winnipeg and Morris areas. He also worked at the Morris Stampede Grounds for 18 years as groundskeeper and general maintenance man. Abram retired from there at the age of 72 years. On September 2, 2001 Abram and wife Helena celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. Dad has since become ill and the Lord decided to take you home. Dad you will be missed greatly by everyone. Well always love you Dad! We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Manness and all the nursing staff at the Morris General Hospital for all their efforts in caring for our Dad during his stay. Funeral services will be held at the Morris Fellowship Chapel on Saturday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. with interment in the Morris Cemetery.
