CANDACE (CANDY) LEE LOGAN (nee GATES) September 7, 1955- September 24, 2003 Just beyond her 48th birthday, Candy passed away September 24, 2003 at the Riverview Health Centre after a determined and courageous battle with cancer. Candy was surrounded with her familys love. Born in St. Boniface, MB to Ann and Al Gates, Candy described her school years as "ordinary." With the death of her brother during her teenage years, the life-changing event for her family began to change her own perspective away from the "ordinary" and toward a greater appreciation for "special" things. Candy described her husband, Bob, as "the first special thing" - in spite of the leisure suit, platform shoes, and hair "down to there." "He even replaced my love of bowling" and bridge as her favourite pastimes! During her illness, Candy reminisced often of their "adventure" in Denver. Five years into their marriage and filled with the optimism of youth, it was the place where Geoffrey was born, where going to the mountains on the weekends was always eventful (notwithstanding her hatred of snakes!) - and it was the beginning of a lifelong devotion to her family. Upon their return to Winnipeg, Ashleigh was born one year later and with the birth of Derek two years after, Candys husband and this new family unit became the most important people in her life. Left to mourn Candys passing is her husband of 26 years, Robert (Bob) Logan, and their children, Geoffrey (Kendra Isleifson), Ashleigh, and Derek. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandra (Peter Griffin), David, and Bradley, as well as her sister-in-law Barbara Ahronson (Dave) and her mother-in-law Francis Logan. At Candys request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Candys life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Chapel (across from the Mint) on Saturday, September 27, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Bonita E. Garrett. In lieu flowers, Candy asked that donations to be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, the Riverview Health Centre or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
