STEVE BILINSKY It is with deepest sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Steve Bilinsky at the age of 76 years on September 25, 2003. Steve was predeceased by his parents Mykyta and Mary. He will be sadly missed by his wife Anne; children, Dennis (Valerie), Andy (Susan), Cindy and Tom; grandchildren, Ryan, Jennifer, Nicole, Jason and Ashley; sisters, Anne Ogrodnik, Mary (Grant) Clements, Stephanie (Oscar) Lyseko, and Virginia; brothers, Peter and Alec (Josie) brothers-in-law, Steve (Mindy) Chanas, Peter Chanas and Ann Dettorre; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was born in the Ukraine in 1927, and immigrated to Canada in 1935 with his parents and siblings. The family settled in the Highland Glen area of East Selkirk, where Steve grew up on the family farm. He married Anne in 1957, and raised his family in Transcona while working for 35 years at CNR. After retirement, Steve continued to enjoy the outdoors, in particular hunting, fishing and gardening. He always enjoyed being with his family, visiting the farm, and being surrounded by his grandchildren. A highlight of retirement was his trip to the Ukraine in 1997, where Steve was able to see his birthplace and visit relatives. Prayers will be held on Sunday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, Manitoba. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 100 Yale Avenue East in Transcona, with Fr. Harry Oliynek officiating. Interment will follow in the East Selkirk Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
