ROSE DOUGLAS (nee GAGNE) Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Rose Douglas, aged 73 years, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2003 at the Concordia Hospital. Rose was predeceased by her husband Stewart; and surviving to mourn her loss are her children, John (Janie), Elizabeth (Jim), Bill (Brenda), Linda (Fluffy), Margaret (Alan) her eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brother John (Lee) Gagne and brothers-in-law, Bill Douglas (Rita) and Bob Stewner. She was predeceased by her parents, Josephine Ducharme and Joe Gagne; sister Mary Stewner; sisters-in-law, Betty Silk and Peggy Hazel. Rose led a beautiful but simple life, motivating and trying to keep the peace within her family. Her love was her family, Fluffy her dog, going to Bingo, cooking and especially shopping and bartering for a deal at garage sales. She was a very witty person with a great sense of humour. She loved playing tricks and teasing everyone, but at the same time she was devious. Rose had a heart of gold and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Rose was very strong willed and had a ferocious strength, as shown in her last moments of life. She had accomplished something far greater than winning any bingo game, her willingness to fight to live. She did so courageously. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Caners and all the staff at the ICU and Emergency Observation Unit, Concordia Hospital, who made Moms brief stay comforting and peaceful, and also to those who visited to pay their respects. We would especially like to thank her dear friend Nora Johnson, for all her help, support and thoughtfulness. As according to Roses wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public service or viewing. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
