HELEN MAY EVANS It is with great sorrow that we announce the quiet passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grand-mother, Helen May Evans at Tuxedo Villa on September 26, 2003 at the age of 95 years. Helen will be forever remembered by her sons, William, wife Janet of Nanoose Bay, BC and Gary, wife Evelyn; and daughter-in-law Emily Evans of Winnipeg. Helen is also survived by her oldest sister Minnie Maddex of Vancouver, BC; and brothers, Bill (Rose) Feir of Edmonton, Ronald (Jean) Feir; and sister-in-law Doreen Feir of Winnipeg; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Harry in 1979; and youngest son Murray in 1988. She was particularly proud of her eight grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren. Michael (Mary-Jane) Evans, Brian Evans, Tim (Christine) Evans and their children, Matthew and Stephanie all of Toronto. Heather (Scott) Kyllo and their children, Alyssa and Chad of Vernon, BC, Leslie (Mike) MacCorby and their children, Marissa and Matthew, Linda (Guy) Phillips and their children, Emma and Sarah, Laurie (Darrell) Carriere and their children, Ryland and Kyle and Lorna (Ken) Blue all of Winnipeg. Helen was born in Cobourg, ON on August 19, 1908, but lived most of her life in Winnipeg. During the war years, Helen was employed with Systems Equipment Ltd. For 11 years as a Forelady in the Bindery Department. Later she was associated with the Rosery Florist for over 25 years as their Floral Designer. She was an active member of St. Albans Anglican Church and St. Lukes Anglican Church where she served on the Ladies Auxiliary and sang in the choir along with her three sons. She was proudly regarded by her three sons as one of the courageous war-time mothers, raising her sons on her own while Harry served overseas for five years. Prior to moving to Tuxedo Villa, Helen was one of the original residents of Lions Place and served on the Residents Council. Funeral Service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc. 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance, on Wednesday, October 1 at 1:00 p.m. A private interment service will be held with the immediate family at Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
