GERTRUDE ELLEN HANSEN Gertrude Hansen, beloved wife of the late Karl Peter Hansen, passed away on September 25, 2003 at age 95 at West Park Manor Personal Care Home. She is survived by her son Karl; daughter-in-law Patricia of Calgary; granddaughters, Signe and husband Rob of Hamilton, and Kirsten of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband on January 18, 1987 and brother Frank Burton on April 23, 1980. Gertrude was born May 14, 1908 in Toronto and moved with her family to Winnipeg in 1910 where she attended school and completed business college. She was a stenographer prior to her marriage on April 28, 1934. Thereafter, she became a mother, homemaker and avid gardener during 40 years on Douglas Park Road. Gertrude was an enthusiastic five-pin bowler, participating in many leagues in St. James until age 90. A family service will be held. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the management and staff at West Park Manor Personal Care Home for the kind and compassionate care she has received.
