JEANNE LEMOINE With the same grace and dignity that exemplified her life, Jeanne Marguerite Lemoine passed into the arms of God on September 25, 2003 at the age of 83. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sister Henriette (Guy, deceased) Rocan and three brothers Jean (Andree), Henri (Brenda) and Sam (Irene) Lemoine. She will also be sadly missed by her 12 nieces and nephews, their families and her many close friends. Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, Antoinette (nee Thibault) and Edgar. She was born in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba in 1919. Following high school, Jeanne attended business college in Winnipeg. She was employed from 1941 to 1945 at McDonald Aircraft and from 1945 to 1947 at the War Assets office. For the next six years, Jeanne was the assistant to the personnel manager of the Winnipeg office of the Federal Civil Service Commission. In 1953, she moved to Santa Monica, California with her good friend Olga Herdy, returning to Winnipeg in 1956 to work at the Misericordia Hospital as a medical secretary to the Medical Director. Jeanne returned to California in 1963 where she would live for the next 40 years. She worked at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica as a medical secretary and then, starting another career, opened Lemoines Gift Shop in Beverly Hills in 1977. She retired 5 years later at age 62. Jeannes passion was her many friends and family. She loved playing the host, entertaining people with the beautiful weather and the ocean close to her California home. Her apartment was always a welcome port in the storm for people escaping the harsh Manitoba weather. Jeanne seemed to know everything and everyone in Los Angeles and delighted in others company. In May 2003 at the age of 83, she moved back to Winnipeg and spent her final months living with her sister Henriette. A celebration of Jeannes life will be held on Monday, September 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion Street, with Deacon Ted Wood officiating. Interment will take place at St. Agathe Cemetery following lunch. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Deacon Ted Wood, Dr. Paul Daeninck and Henriette Rocan for their compassion and assistance in Jeannes final months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeannes memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, R3E 0V9. P.COUTU & CO. Funeral Directors 156 Marion St., 949-4864
