Date of Passing: Sep 25, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MARY (HONEY) MADDEN (nee GREIG) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Dorothy. She died suddenly, with her son James at her side on September 25, 2003, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 74 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Patrick (Annette), Kathleen (Nelson Sopko) and James (Shelley) her grandchildren, Erin, Jamie, Kevin and Sheamus; her sisters, Evelyn Nys (Bert), Georgina Strassel (Kurt), Gladys Heyser (Gabe), and Joyce Sylvestre (Robert) and her brother George Greig (Audrey) as well as her numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Patrick (Gerry), her parents George and Eva Greig, and her sisters Florence Greig and Helen Devion. Honey took great pride in her long accounting career, but her greatest joys were her family and many friends. Each year, she eagerly looked forward to summers at "Fernlea", her cottage in Grand Marais, where she had been going since the age of 16. Her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, were special sources of pride. Her homes walls, tables and wallet, were filled with photos of them to be displayed at the drop of a hat. A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St., St. Boniface. Her urn will be placed with her beloved husband Gerald in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard. Following the service at the cemetery, a gathering of friends and family will be held at the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Erin, Jamie, Kevin, and Sheamus. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mom, Grandma, we love you, and will miss you forever. P. COUTU & CO.
