Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD (ED) KLASSEN Peacefully on September 26, 2003, at Riverview Health Centre, Edward Klassen passed away at the age of 76 years. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Elizabeth (Toots) of 53 years, son Ken (Janet) with their children, Michael and Larissa, all of Winnipeg; daughter Karen Klassen of Surrey, BC; two brothers, David of Winnipeg and Abe (Marg) of Cambridge, ON; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was a plumber by trade for most of his life. The last 20 years of his working career he specialized in Pneumatic controls. Other fields of employment involved, logging at Williams Lake and mining at Geralton, also working on the Dew Line and initiating construction on a Pulp and Paper Mill in Iran. Due to his extensive experience Ed was gifted at performing many different tasks. He could do carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical and most anything else that required doing. He was born August 5, 1927 in the municipality of Morris. By the age of 14 he claimed to have assisted his family in moving an estimated 60 times. Packing a bag or box was a noted specialty. Ed loved life. He loved a good joke and a good drink. He liked to tease and kibitz, as well as playing a game of crib. Ed and Toots lived in British Columbia over 25 years before returning to Winnipeg in 1989. His religious belief in God, morality, good and evil, right and wrong, was an important part of his life. Pallbearers will be Terry Barkman, Robert Friesen, Dr. Brian Friesen, Darryl Friesen, Robert Klassen and Warren Klassen. Special thanks to staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Deer Lodge, and especially Riverview Health Centre for the excellent care given to Ed. Also a very special thanks to friends, Dave and Eileen Wiebe for their weekly visits. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 1 at 1:30 p.m., viewing at 12:30 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
