Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES WILLIAM PARRIS It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of James William Parris on September 25, 2003. Sadly missed by his wife Vivian of 50 years. He is also survived by his children, Dorothy (Alan), Janet (Carlton), James (Diane) and his grandchildren, Keiley (Blair), Douglas, C.J., Keelan and Ashlen; and a great-granddaughter Sierra. James was born in Mulgrave, Nova Scotia in 1925. As a young man he joined the Army in 1943. He served in two wars: the Second World War and the Korean War. He was wounded in the Second World War. He received numerous medals for service. He retired from the service as a Chief Warrant Officer. He and his family resided in Mulgrave, Nova Scotia, Camp Gagetown, New Brunswick, Rivers, Manitoba. While he was in Rivers he was named Mayor for one year. He then settled his family in Winnipeg. After retiring from the Army, James worked first at the Liquor Commission followed by Eatons and then at the Grace Hospital. Throughout his life and many jobs James made many friends. He always lent a helpful hand or shared a lively joke. He never took time for granted and made sure others did the same. Service will be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 3:00 on October 1. Viewing will be held thirty minutes before the service. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. He will be deeply missed and always remembered. By his wife, children, grandchildren and great granddaughter.
