MARY FILKOW ROSEN Peacefully at home on September 28, 2003, in the arms of her son Phillip. Predeceased by her husband Jack and son Bill (Sandy), she leaves to mourn Phil (Eileen) and her beloved grandchildren, Harriet (Grant), Jackie, Hartley, Nicole (David), Janice, Jack Sacha, Michael. Of special delight to her was her great-grandson Matthew. Family meant so much to Mary. Born in 1911 to George and Zippa Filkow in West Kildonan, she was the last of the Filkow generation, raised on the Filkow dairy farm. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will miss her enthusiastic welcomes, and remember fondly the family gatherings. Marys devotion to those near and dear to her are the stuff of legend. She gathered a circle of close friends whose friendship endured the years. The family would like to acknowledge the lifelong friendship of Marion Gallis and Pearl Yaffe. Graveside funeral services are at 2:00 p.m Wednesday, October 1 at the Shaarey Zedek, Main and Armstrong. Donations in her memory to be made to the Hadassah-Wizo office.
