Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEATRICE KATHLEEN DOWNIE (nee CHANDLER) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Beatrice Downie on September 30, 2003. Bea was born in Cromer, MB on February 27, 1918 and moved to Winnipeg at a very young age. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Bob in 1996 and her son Robert David in 1951. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Heather Wilson (Larry) of Fort Erie, ON and Shannon Blais (Paul Lopes) of Winnipeg; four grandchildren, Chrys Friesen of St. Catharines, ON, Del LaPlante, Shandra and Deagan Blais, all of Winnipeg and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Gertrude Peterson and her family of Vancouver, BC and her very dearest friend of 70 years, Ethel (Susie) Turner and other extended family members. Bea resided in Winnipeg nearly all her life and was a very proud resident of the city. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Bea was one of the founding members of the Kirkfield Park United Church and active in many of its organizations for 40 years. Bea thoroughly enjoyed her time spent with the ladies of the Friendship Group and had a wide circle of friends whose friendships endured for years. She has truly touched the lives of many in her own special way. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 4 at the Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield St. at 3:00 p.m. The service will terminate at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Porphyria Foundation, P.O. Box 1206, Neepawa, MB R0J 1H0.
