CRAIG GEORGE HUNTER July 20, 1946 - September 29, 2003 After months of battle, where he gave it his all, Craig passed away at St. Boniface Hospital with family by his side on September 29 at the age of 57. Craig left many special people in his life, who will miss him dearly. His wife and best friend, Patty; his son Darren, who never failed to put a sparkle in his eyes, even near the end. His daughters, Dana (Brad) and Tracy (granddaughter Ashley) sister Arlene (Steve), all of whom he loved. His extended family, of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins, who are too many to list - the Gingeras, the Baldwins, the Spooners and the Vajcners. You know that Craig thought the world of all of you. Craigs life story would take pages to fill, but here is a glance of a man who brought love and laughter to all he had contact with. He was born July 20, 1946 to the late Louis and Ellen Hunter. He grew up in Winnipeg with his sisters, Louellen (late) and Arlene and they spent many years getting into trouble (along with the Spooners - especially Rob and the Martin boys) and sharing many special memories. His Dad introduced him to the world of camping and fishing, a love which Craig carried with him until the end. As a teenager, he found another passion which was cars (and his beloved Hemy). He joined the army and then returned to civilian life working with the cars he enjoyed so much. He met and married Shirley and they had two wonderful daughters, Dana and Tracy. Although the marriage ended, his love for his children and his respect for Shirley never died. Craig always said that he never regretted working in so many different types of jobs, from sales to automotive, to long-distance driving and RVs. Hes done it all, and enjoyed the ride. Before his passing, he was a proud member of the Winnipeg Pattern and Model Works team and always had wonderful things to say about everyone he worked with, especially his brother-in-law Don Gingera and his bosses, Craig and Caroline Lobson. He met Patty in 1990 and together they quickly realized that they were made for each other. In 1994 they were blessed with their son Darren, who Craig thought the sun rose and set on. He carried on the traditions that his father gave to him and taught Darren not only how to fish, but how to laugh and how to cry and that a true man is measured not on his accomplishments, but by his character. We will miss him dearly. But the place that Craig loved the best was with his summer family at Canadian Vacations on Dogtooth Lake. He couldnt count the days fast enough each winter until the spring thaw so that he could sit at the nightly campfire (thank Mr. Wiggle!). He had many close and special friends there and will miss you all, especially Colin. There are so many people that Craig would want to thank, but first and foremost Dr. Ben Yip and Dr. Ralph Wong, for their dedication, caring and professionalism and for never giving up. To the many dedicated caring nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital in CancerCare, Radiology, 7A-South and 4A-South Step-Down and the incredible people in Surgical Intensive Care. Craig developed an enormous amount of respect for what you do day in and day out and wants you to know that you have made a difference in many peoples lives, especially ours. Thank you. To Bev, Barb and Debbie and the rest of the Gingera clan - he thought the world of you and takes great comfort in knowing that you are always there for Patty and Darren. To Rob and Linda - no truer friends could anyone ever have. To our many neighbours whose only motto is "thats what neighbours are for" - thank you for everything. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Craigs life will take place on Friday, October 3 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. As per Craigs wishes, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
