DONALD "MURRAY" McLAUGHLIN On Wednesday, October 1, 2003 Donald "Murray" McLaughlin, husband of the late Lillian McLaughlin, passed away at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m. at the Westminster United Church, N.W. Maryland and Westminster, Winnipeg, with the Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakville Cemetery, Oakville, MB at 3:30 p.m. Murray was born on December 31, 1905 at Plumas, MB. In 1920 he and his family moved to a farm in the Elm River District at Oakville, MB. He graduated in 1925 from the Normal Class at Portage la Prairie. In 1927, he began his teaching career at Mulvihill, MB. During the Depression years, he worked on the family farm. In 1939 he joined the Royal Canadian Artillery Corps and served in Europe as a surveyor. He met his future wife Lillian Blanche Hogan in London at the end of the war, and they were married in June of 1948. After the war, Murray returned to teaching with an assignment in Transcona and later Nelson McIntyre Collegiate in the Norwood School Division. He retired in 1972 and resided in Winnipeg until his death. Predeceased by his wife Lillian Blanche McLaughlin; his brothers, Duncan Rae McLaughlin and James Barclay McLaughlin; his sister Margaret Evangeline McCrea, he leaves to mourn his passing, his son Don (Angela) McLaughlin of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Donald Lindsay McLaughlin and Jeffrey Ross McLaughlin and his daughter Margaret Elaine McLaughlin of Winnipeg.
