Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN McCARTNEY (nee FRASER) September 28, 1931 - October 1, 2003 Over the past year, Joan lived with, and finally succumbed to lymphoma at St. Boniface Hospital with her family at her side. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 49 years Doug; sons, Gary (Barb) and Daryl (Anne) granddaughters, Crystal, Ashlin, and Brittany; great-grandson Gerratt; sisters, Helen and Jean (Ken) brothers, George (Janice), Ross (Doe), and Jack; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. We were blessed with and have lost a wonderful wife, a devoted, and rather fun, mother, and an accomplished athlete. Joan was born in Souris, MB and moved to Winnipeg in 1954 where she spent the remainder of her life. Joan was an exceptional athlete, softball in her younger years, curling in her middle years, and tennis in the past 15 years. She was also a great fan of sports, taking great pleasure in watching family and friends compete in various sports. The family extends thanks to the talented and thoughtful staff at St. Boniface A5 (especially Pat and Linda), and for the support of family and friends during this difficult time (especially Joyce). Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Sherwood Park Lutheran Church, 7 Tudor Cres. at London Street, in Winnipeg, on Tuesday, October 7 at 3:00 p.m. After the service, family and friends are invited to stay at the church to gather together to celebrate her life and mourn her passing.
