JOHN OSTOPOWICH May 17, 1918 - October 2, 2003 Peacefully, at his residence, with his loving wife at his side John passed away on October 2, 2003. He is cherished by his wife of 59 years Nellie; daughter Barbara; son Allan; daughter-in-law Erlinda. He is adored his grandchildren, Flint and Jade. John is survived by his sister Beatrice Metzak of Winnipeg and brother Tony in Los Angeles, as well as three nephews, Darrald, Richard and Daniel. As a youngster John was educated in Norquay School where he enjoyed playing the violin at concerts. Life was challenging during the roaring twenties and dirty thirties. Further obstacles greeted John in agriculture. Farming was his passion. Machinery, soil, crops and weather were daily conversations. Fond memories exist of his labours of love in planting gardens, caring for animals and making skating rinks. John was a well respected member of the community, serving as a school trustee in Thalberg and being part of a delegation of farmers case in the presence of the Prime Minister and cabinet in 1959. His work experience includes the Highlander Curling Club and City of Winnipeg. Upon his retirement John purchased a Honda trike where he was seen driving his grandson Flint in his arms till he fell asleep. Johns legacy is one of honesty, trustworthiness, humility and simplicity. The family eagerly anticipates the fulfilment of John 5:28, 29 in which Jesus Christ calls out all in memorial tombs to a resurrection of earthly life. In accordance with Johns request cremation has taken place and no memorial service will be held. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
