DONNA BEVERLEY PECK-HARLAND After a long and bitter fight with cancer, Donna passed away at home on Friday, October 3, 2003. She was born in Carberry, MB on January 22, 1936 to the late Vera and Wilfred Peck. Donna will be greatly missed by her husband Ian; two sons, Garry Lee (Marilyn) and Kevin (Margaret) brother Garry (Diane) grandchildren, Madeline, Mikaela, Hugh, Caley and Emma; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Donna grew up and received her education in Sidney, MB prior to going to Brandon Business College. Her first job was with Cockshutt Farm Equipment and Brantford Coach and Body. In 1957 she married Ian and was a great support through his university life. In 1963 they moved to Oxford House as missionaries, where living in northern isolation Donna became very adept at living without electricity and other conveniences. In 1968 the family moved to Red Lake, ON. Donna worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources and was very active in the United Church, choir and UCW. For many years she taught 4H to youth in Red Lake and Ear Falls. In 1977 the family moved to Winnipeg where she was employed with the Winnipeg School Division, Amalgamated Services and then later the Provincial Government. She held several positions with the Provincial Government, retiring from the Human Rights Commission in 1998. Her life in Winnipeg was very active with church, choir, UCW, family and her large circle of friends. Donna was a very warm, generous and caring person well-known for her baking and cake decorating talents. A service of celebration and thanksgiving of Donnas life will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m. in Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield St. Our family would like to thank the staff of the Oncology Dept. and the 4th Floor staff at the Grace General Hospital. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Donnas memory may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield St., Winnipeg, MB R3K 1E6.
