BETTY SCHWARTZ Betty died suddenly on August 27, 2003 with her beloved husband of almost 58 years at her side. Cherishing her memory are her husband Mayer; her children, Toni and Abe Berenhaut, Leah (Montreal) and Ron (Ottawa) her grandchildren, Ken Berenhaut (North Carolina) and Arlene and Jeff Lefeele (California), and her great-grandchildren, Michael and Madison Lefeele. Betty was born in Iassi, Romania and immigrated to Canada in 1948 with Mayer and Toni. She was blessed to have survived the war years with her parents, brother and sisters. She left them behind when she came to Canada. After her siblings immigrated to Israel she was able to visit them in person as well as by phone. She was the last of her immediate family. Betty was a woman of principles and strong moral convictions. She taught her children to strive for their goals. She never waited for things to be handed to her but went out and made things happen. Although plagued with health problems in her later years, she never stopped being active. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. A graveside service was held on Friday, August 29 at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery with Rabbi Weizman presiding. The family requests that donations be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
