KENNETH DOUGLAS TOWES 1923 - 2003 Kenneth Douglas Towes died peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Meadowood Manor, after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his parents, C.F. (Roy) and Rosa Toews; his sister Emily; his brothers, William, Ernie, Sidney, Norman, Leonard and his wife Edna; and brother-in-law William Giesbrecht. Also by his in-laws, William and Florence Hastings; sister-in-law Joyce Bock and her daughter Joy Anne Bock; and brother-in-law Thomas Dancer. He is survived by Shirley, his wife of 54 years; his daughter Catherine (Denis) his son Douglas (Janet) and grandson Keanan; his sister Lydia; his brothers, Eldon (Roslyn) and Earl (Deanna) six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We wish to thank the staff, volunteers and participants of the South Family "Y" Seniors Group and the Stroke "Club" for their friendship and caring during the 17 years he was a part of your groups. You enhanced his life in many different ways and we are very grateful. We also thank the staff and volunteers at Meadowood Manor for their compassionate care of Ken during his last year and a half and for the friendships he made during this time. Interment will take place on Monday, October 6 at 1:15 p.m. at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. in Meadowood Manors Chapel, 577 St. Annes Rd., with Rev. Dr. Sharon Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kens memory may be made to the Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba, 1 - 333 Vaughan St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 3J9, or to Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2J 1C7, or to a charity of your choice.
