ALEXANDER BILAN On October 3, 2003 at St. Boniface Hospital, Alexander Bilan passed away. Al will be sadly missed by his loving wife Merle of 53 years; son James (Karen) Bilan; sister Sophie Cook; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Nick Bilan and sister Marie Sagasky. Al was born and raised in Gardenton, MB. In his early years, he worked for the CNR. In 1950, he married Merle and together, they moved to Winnipeg where he worked for Winnipeg Transit for 32 years. Al was known for his laughter, his smile and his jovial personality. He enjoyed his life, loved his family and his home, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Special thank you to the staff of the 5th floor at Misericordia Health Centre and St. Boniface Hospital for their care over the past year. A Celebration of Als life will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Als memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6 or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 2P4.
