DAVID LAIRD CRAWFORD 1913 - 2003 Dave passed away peacefully in his sleep at Deer Lodge Centre on Sunday, October 5, at the age of 90. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Betty) and sons, Laird (Erma) and Frank (Christian). David was predeceased by brother Bill (1983) and sisters, Anne (1994) and Jean (2001). Dave was always an active man, and in earlier years was an avid fisherman, hunter, ATVer, and snowmobiler. He was also an accomplished woodworker and carpenter. Dave was a most generous husband and father. Having worked in the paper mill in Pine Falls for 42 years, and service overseas for three years during the Second World War in the Little Black Devils, he then embarked on a well-deserved retirement of 27 years, 11 of which were spent as a "Snowbird" in Mesa, Arizona with wife Betty during the winters, where golf replaced snowmobiling. In recent years, when health began failing him, his favourite saying became "its a great life if you dont weaken" so we obtained a t-shirt saying that which amused him to no end. Dave will be fondly remembered by the Deer Lodge Staff on T-5 as the "Energizer Bunny" for his continual walker sorties looking for the smoking room, and for his friendly nature. Cremation will take place, with interment to be decided at a later date. A short service will be performed by son Frank at Garry Memorial Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Friday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined, but anyone so wishing may contribute to a charity of choice. " Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray thee Lord my soul to keep if I should die before I wake, I pray thee Lord My Soul to take" Garry Memorial Funeral Home Cemetery and Cremation Centre 925-1120
