Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLAIR HAMMILL On Monday, October 6, 2003, Harold Erle Clair Hammill died peacefully in his sleep at the Riverview Health Centre in his 90th year, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife Muriel (Moffat), of nearly 60 years of marriage; daughters, Judith Hammill (Roger Swickis) of Gibsons Landing, BC and Janet Gale (Bob) grandson Jason Gale (Tammy Cady) great-grandsons, Jeremy Gale and Gage Gale; brother-in-law Buster Jeffrey, all of Winnipeg and cousin Sherrianne Kozak and family of Swan River, MB. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Joan Jeffrey and cousin Pat McGimpsey. Clair was born on June 22, 1914 in Winnipeg, the only son of Erle and Bertie (Morrison) Hammill. He excelled at Isaac Brock School and Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate, skipping a grade and graduating from pharmacy in 1936 with a silver and gold medal from the University of Manitoba. After three years with Browns and Greys Drugstores, he worked in the Hudsons Bay dispensary for nearly 40 years where he was well respected and liked by his colleagues. Clair was a kind and loving husband and father. He had a great sense of humour and could tell a good joke. During the first 70 years of his life, he spent many happy summers on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. In his retirement years, he continued to indulge his passion for movies, reading, popular music and travelled frequently in North America and Europe. In compliance with Clairs wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Our family would like to thank the staff of CD-1 at Riverview Health Centre, who cared for Clair kindly and professionally over the past seven years, who have become like extended family to us. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clairs memory may be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation of Canada (Manitoba Chapter), 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2 or to Winnipeg Harvest, 1085 Winnipeg Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0S2. "Clair was a gentleman and will be missed very much". WOJCIKS ALL FAITHS & BELIEFS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
