GARNET CLEVELAND McGILLVARY Peacefully on October 6, 2003, with his family by his side, Garnet Cleveland McGillvary passed away at the Boundary Trails Health Centre in Winkler, MB. Garnet leaves to mourn his loving wife Lila of 28 years; his daughters, Margaret (Carl) Johnston, Joyce (Roger) Kerik; special friends, Don and Linda Stewart and family; grandchildren, Karen (Merlin), Dwayne (Laurie), Mark and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Trent, Carly, Dominic, Dakota, Shayne and Jasmine. Garnet was predeceased by his parents, John (1955), Ada (1965) brothers, Alex (1939), Harold (1968), George (1976) and Bob (1980). Garnet was born in Manitou to John and Ada McGillvary on December 5, 1916 and was the youngest of five sons. Garnet served in active duty overseas from 1943 to 1946. He served in Holland, Germany, Belgium and France before being discharged in January 1946. He then returned to Manitou to farm for many years. He married the love of his life Lila and continued to live in Manitou for the remainder of his life. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9 at the St. Andrews United Church in Manitou at 11:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Palliative Care Unit at Boundry Trails Health Centre, Box 2000 Station Main, Winkler, MB, R6W 1H8 or to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Don Stewart for being such a wonderful friend and for all his love and support to Garnet and Lila over the years.
