KATHLEEN HERMAN Peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 Kathleen passed away at Fred Douglas Lodge three weeks shy of her 94th birthday. Kathleen is survived by daughter-in-law Sophie; grandchildren, Paul (Carol), Jeffrey, Sandra (Eamonn) Slattery and Kathy (Michael) Sarna; great-grandchildren, Sara and Zachary Herman, McKenna and Karissa Sarna and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by husband Wsiewolod (1978) son Edgar (1989) and parents, Paul and Doris; sisters, Polly, Mary, Ann, Josie and Jeryna; brothers, Michael, Nicholas and James. Baba was born as Katerina Lutak on November 1, 1909 on a farm near Malonton, MB. She married in 1930 and their son was born in 1932. She worked at the Fort Garry Hotel for 47 years (1927-1974) but she still had time for gardening and pickling. When the grandchildren came along, they took over her life. Kathleen was an avid member of her church and helped making perogies and holopci with the other women. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Reverend Alexander Harkavyi officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers are Paul Herman, Jeff Herman, Eamonn Slattery, Fred Binnie, Alan Binnie and Akin Obanjo. Honorary Pallbearer is Walter Cardinal. The family would like to thank the staff on the Elm ward at Fred Douglas Lodge for their kindness, compassion and care, especially the two Margarets and Barb.
