ROBERT B. KURAN September 13, 1927 - October 8, 2003 Peacefully, in his sleep, on Wednesday morning, October 8, 2003, Bob passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre. Bob will be remembered by his wife of 51 years Jean (nee Barbour) sons, Robert, Jim (Irene), Raymond (Dorie), Bill (Angie) grandchildren, Tierney, Connor, Sarah, Cole, Wyatt, Aaron. He also leaves behind his brothers, Victor, Lionel; sister Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, mother and one brother Raymond. Bob was born in Whitemouth, MB, later moving to Balmoral, MB when he was quite young. In 1948 he hired on with the C.P.R. and while working found time to attend the University of Manitoba. Upon graduation in 1955 with a BSC he moved up the rank into management with the Railway. In 1986 he took early retirement. During his retirement he spent his summer months at his cottage in Big Whiteshell with his family. In the winter his time was spent travelling to warmer climates, curling in the masters league with his buddies at Rossmere Curling Club. The rest of his time was spent enjoying his grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie St., Winnipeg (Kimberley at Golspie in East Kildonan). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Boniface Research Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
