RETA EILEEN MCGREGOR Peacefully, on October 9, 2003, Reta Eileen McGregor passed away at the age of 80 years. Reta was an amazing woman. She was born on February 27th, 1923 as the second child of four children born to Leo and Carrie Tobin. She attended St Ignatius and Kelvin High Schools. During her time at Kelvin, she broke a school high jump record and won the Manitoba championship in speed skating at the age of 15. She won a trophy for the school in a citywide championship by winning every event she entered. She was also class president in both junior and senior high school. Reta married her life partner, Gordon McGregor in 1945. Her husband predeceased her in March 2002, but together they had 53 years of marriage and six children. During her married life, Reta volunteered for many years on behalf of numerous charitable organizations, holding a number of executive positions. She was involved in all of her childrens activities and was class mother at St Marys Academy. Her sense of giving to the community was not limited to the charitable causes she gave her time and energy to. She was also a talented actress who performed leading roles in several plays with an amateur theatre group. She fundraised for Rainbow Stage and as a result, was asked to become an executive member. She was an accomplished gourmet cook and loved to entertain. Reta leaves her children, Leslie, Janice (Brian), Carey, Gordon, Liz (Paul), Jane (Bill) and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Brian Tobin in 1980 and leaves her sister Sheila Berthon of Winnipeg and her brother Jack (Joan) Tobin of BC to mourn her passing.
