AGNES MENZIES Agnes Menzies passed away peacefully at the Agape Hospice on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Duncan in 1999. Agnes will be dearly missed by her son Alexander Menzies; daughters, Margaret Callbeck, Claire Menzies; son-in-law, David Callbeck; and grandchildren, Cameron, Christyne and James. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Mary McDonald; her sister-in-laws, Selma Menzies, Florentine Hunter, Gladys Muir; as well as by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She left behind to celebrate her life, many friends, both in Winnipeg and Calgary. Agnes was born and grew up on a farm in Elphinstone, MB and moved to Winnipeg where she married Duncan and raised her family. She was an active participant in Westworth United Church and was a volunteer in many community activities such as Meals on Wheels and at the YWCA. She was a great supporter of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Agnes enjoyed crafts and gardening throughout her life. Agnes moved to Calgary in the summer of 1999 to be with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her new friends at the Huntington Manor often over the occasional game of cards. All, who knew her, enjoyed her zest for life and her love of laughter. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude for the care and kindness shown to Agnes and her family over the past few months and, in particular, the staff and volunteers of the Agape Hospice. A memorial service will be performed by Rev. Basil Coward at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, at the Good Shepherd Community Church, 6311 Norfolk Dr. N.W., in Calgary. There will also be a brief service and interment held in Winnipeg at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. on October 24. If so desired, a memorial tribute may be made in Agnes name directly to either Westworth United Church at 1750 Grosvenor Ave., Winnipeg, R3N 0H9 or to the Salvation Army Agape Hospice at 1302 8 Avenue N. W., Calgary, T2N 1B8.
