BEVERLY ALFRED LLOYD Suddenly on October 8, 2003, Beverly Alfred Lloyd passed away at his residence with his loving wife Joyce by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Amy and Alfred Lloyd. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 56 years, Joyce; children, Dr. Robert Lloyd (Laurel), Claire Lloyd (Dennis) OReilly, Kathy Lloyd (Don Ferens), David Lloyd; grandchildren, Anita, Caitlin, Alissa, Ashley, Megan, Craig, Karla and Amy. Bev was born in Winnipeg on October 31, 1924 where he spent his whole life. Upon graduating from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute. Bev began his apprenticeship in pharmacy at Roberts Drug Store. This was put on hold when he joined the Navy, where he served for two years, before returning to graduate from the University of Manitoba with a B.Sc. in pharmacy. He then embarked on a long and distinguished career in his chosen profession. In 1948, Bev and his partner Don Johnson owned and operated numerous pharmacies beginning with Wildwood Pharmacy in Fort Garry, Fort Richmond Pharmacy and retiring from Shoppers Drug Mart in 1985. Bev loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest until recently when his health began to fail. Many summers were spent with his family on memorable camping trips around the United States and Canada. He especially looked forward to the fall hunting seasons spent at Hartney, MB where he met and made many good friends over the years. Many years were enjoyed at the cottage at Lee River with family and friends and happy times were spent with his grandchildren boating and fishing. Bev was a marvellous cook and he prepared countless gourmet meals for all to enjoy. More recently Bev enjoyed tending his herb garden at the lake and was proud to serve as a founding member of the Herb Society of Manitoba. Bev had many passions in life which included playing bridge, golf, skiing and reading. He was a founding member of the Fort Garry Lions Club, Fort Garry Chamber of Commerce, Manitoba Sports Federation, and served as president of the Manitoba Swimming Association. He was proud to have served as president of the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association and president of the Canadian Pharmaceutical Association. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
