KATHLEEN (KAE) ARMITAGE

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN (KAE) ARMITAGE 1914 - 2003 Kae Armitage died on September 29, 2003, in Edmonton, where she had been living for the past three years. She was in her 89th year. Kae was born Kathleen Lorraine Staples, to Charles H. and Caroline Johnstone Staples in Angusville, MB. After working in the post office for her father, she became a teacher and taught in schools in Seeburn, Glenlochar, Miniota, and Miami, MB. She married Charles Armitage in 1942. Kae was predeceased by Charles in 1978, by her siblings, Gertrude, Howard, Marion and Elinor, and by her son-in-law, Rob Johns. Mourners include her four daughters and their families, Elinor Johns, Stephen, Carol and Sheila; Ann and David Kuva, Elizabeth and John; Beth and Richard Hall, Andrew, Allison and Joseph; and Carol Armitage. Also by Keith and Marcella Armitage, Ivan and Irene Armitage, and by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Kae will be remembered for many things, for her friendships, for her sense of mischief and her ready laugh, for teaching and learning, for a loving letter, for a game of scrabble, bridge, or cribbage with friends and family, for her commitment to her four daughters and their families, and her loving interest in her extended family, for her hospitality, and for leadership in her church and community. A Memorial Service for Kae, conducted by Heather Robbins, was held in Miniota United Church on October 4. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Caitlin Arksey Trust Fund, through the Vanguard Credit Union, Miniota MB, R0M 1M0, or to the Miniota United Church Memorial Fund. Caitlin is Kaes grandniece, daughter of Catherine (Armitage) and Terry Arksey, and granddaughter of Keith and Marcella Armitage. She will be receiving treatment for cancer in Winnipeg and Vancouver for the next nine months. This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
