GRACE M. CASTLING Grace Castling died peacefully at Concordia Hospital on October 7, 2003. Predeceased by her husband Jack (1985), Grace leaves behind a loving family - daughter Leslie (Monica), son John Richard (Rick) (Leanne), granddaughters Janet (Patric) and Leighsa and her great-granddaughter Bailie, her two sisters Vi and Bette (Art) and many nieces and nephews. Grace Mitchell was born on January 27, 1920 in West Kildonan. After leaving school, Grace began work as a seamstress at Eatons. She married Jack, her childhood sweetheart in 1941 and in 1949 they moved their young family to Toronto and New Jersey, returning to Winnipeg in 1954. Grace had always put her talents and her love of fashion to good use sewing clothes for her family and friends and in the 1960s she began working as a saleswoman for Dianes Wedding Gowns. After her retirement she continued to design and sew for friends, family and many others who heard of her magic ability to sew the perfect dress. Grace was a gentle and loving woman whose smile could light up a room and who put everyone she met at ease. To honour her love for children and animals, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or to a childrens charity. The family extends its deepest thanks to Dr. Nicole Allegro and the staff of Concordia Hospital for their care and support. Through life and death We will be together Through love and hate Always together Through happiness and sadness Under the blue skies Through smiles and frowns Always in your eyes Love, Janet Memorial service to be held on Tuesday, October 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Pastor Arthur Klassen officiating.
