ALFRED AMOS STILES Peacefully, on Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at Golden Links Lodge, Alfred Stiles passed away at the age of 84 years. Alfred was predeceased by his brother Gordon. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 58 years, Irene; their children, Doug (Erna), Allan, Valerie (Geoff) Nuytten; their granddaughters, Regan, Rachel, Vanessa, Amanda, and Nicolette; as well as his sisters, Sally Alcock of Penticton, BC, Phyllis Calvert of Winnipeg; and brother Johnny of Penticton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alf was very athletic as a young man and excelled at track and field and weight training. He loved music and played horn in the Salvation Army band. He also loved to dance and he and Irene were avid square dancers for many years. In his professional life Alf worked as a Credit Manager for several businesses in Winnipeg. He was awarded an Honorary Life Membership to the Canadian Credit Institute for his contribution of time, effort and ability to the Winnipeg Chapter and was a member of Toastmasters. Alf was a gentle man and always had a smile and a kind word. A private graveside service will be held at St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Rd., in the family plot. Special thanks are extended to the Golden Links Lodge staff for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alfred to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
