FRANCES ALICE McINTOSH (nee SHORTHOSE) On Friday, October 10, 2003, Frances passed away at the Health Sciences Centre with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her father Francis, mother Edith and sisters, Kathleen Dyer and Edith Cowan. Frances will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 50 years Les; daughter Debbie Huffman (Glen) and their children, Kayla and Robyn; and daughter Pat Velghe (Jim) and their children, Janie and Patrick of Leawood, Kansas. Frances was born in Struan, SK, November 21, 1930 and moved to Rathwell, MB where she grew up. She attended Success Business College in Winnipeg and then worked at Hudsons Bay Co. - Fur Trade Department where she was employed for 5 years. She married in 1953 and lived in many places over the years before finally settling in Starbuck, MB in 1990. She enjoyed her retirement years in Starbuck, helping out whenever she could with the Fall Suppers, church functions, music festivals, etc. She enjoyed travelling and spent many hours knitting, quilting and gardening, which she loved. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care she received while at the Health Sciences Centre. Thanks to the staff on D2 and a special thanks to all the nurses and doctors in the MICU/CCU. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Starbuck United Church, River Ave., Starbuck.
