ROGER TELESPHORE FILLION Born June 21, 1931 in St. Jean Baptiste, MB. Son of the late Antoine (1988) and late Olive (nee Dumontier) (1986) Fillion. Brother of the late Roland (March 2003) (Cecile), late Antonin (May 1997) (late Florence - 2002), Romeo (late Annette - 1997), Donat (Shirley), late Paul Emile (September 2003) (Monique), Rose Alice (Roger Malo), Olivier (Laurette). Husband of the late Therese Vermette (March 2000). Father to Gisele (Denis Fontaine), Normand (Annette), Lynne (Bryan Demarcke), Carole (Gilles Quenelle), Jacqueline (Brian Fraser). Grandfather to Christian and Chantal Fontaine, Jason, Diane, Jamie, Justin and Jean Fillion, Nicole, Michele and Daniel Demarcke, Melanie and Janique Quenelle, Chanelle and Natalie Nolin. Great-grandfather to Jabez Fontaine and Alexander Manaigre. "Do not be worried and upset," Jesus told them. "Believe in God and believe also in me. There are many rooms in my Fathers house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am. You know the way that leads to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going; so how can we know the way to get there?" Jesus answered him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me." John 14:1,2 Ive gone home to my Fathers house, Sunday morning, October 12, 2003 at 10:12, with my family at my side. Thank you Fr. Lanoie and kids for praying with me and letting me go. Thank you all for loving me through this journey. Yes, I will say hi to your mother for you as you have asked. And to my wonderful friends, thank you for your support, your prayers, for sharing your jokes and your time with me. It was all greatly appreciated. And to the staff of Oncology and Palliative Care at St. Boniface Hospital, thank you for making my journey a comfortable one. I had quite a life! Although I grew up in St. Jean Baptiste, my early married years were spent farming in St. Joseph. After moving to Winnipeg in 1957, I provided for my family by working as a carpenter in various places in Manitoba, British Columbia, and the great white north on the Dew line and Hydro dams, retiring in 1992. I enjoyed volunteering at different activities as a member of the Knights of Columbus (Goulet Council) and Festival du Voyageur. I sure enjoyed playing pool at the Norwood Legion, eating out with friends and family, playing "31", cruising in my Grand Marquis and winter vacations in Osoyoos, BC. I loved gardening, even if I did overfertilize my grass from time to time. Funeral will take place at St. Boniface Cathedral on Wednesday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing at 1:30 p.m. until time of service. As I have requested, my body will be cremated and my ashes buried in St. Jean Baptiste. Till we meet again... Rog The Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 233-4949 or toll free 1-888-233-4949.
