Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS FRANCIS GIBBS Doug passed away peacefully on October 9, 2003 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harvey Gibbs of Winnipeg, Stan Gibbs of Victoria and Bert Gibbs of Calgary. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, John and his wife Joan, Jim and his wife Sharon Greening, Gary and partner Diane, Ross and his wife Valerie, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Doug was a lifetime resident of St. James and for many years operated Gibbs Furniture on Portage Avenue near Marjorie Street. As a youngster he greatly enjoyed scouting and the many cycling trips to Lockport. Doug served with the 418 Squadron, Debden, Essex during the Second World War and became a proud lifetime member of Legion No. 4 upon his return. He was also a proud member of the 500 Wing of the Air Force Association of Canada. A memorial service will held on Friday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., with Rev. Ian Mills officiating. The family would like to thank the staff on T5 at Deer Lodge Centre for their compassionate care of Doug. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the St. James Royal Canadian Legion No. 4, 1755 Portage Ave. Arrangements in care of: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
