Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMERILYN GLADYS DRURY (nee MAILEY) December 19, 1930 - October 10, 2003 Tragically, on October 10, 2003, Merilyns life was suddenly taken from her at the age of 72. Merilyn leaves behind seven children, Sharline (Brian), Joanne (Harry), Kent, Grant (Rick), Allen (Jill), Barry (Debbie), Ron (Donna) eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; sisters, Joan Hanson, Noreen Goulet, Sandra Henry, Carol Wilson (Dennis) brother Dale Mailey; also numerous nephews and nieces. Merilyn was predeceased by her life long partner Paul Nesvadba; parents, Gladys and David Mailey; brothers, Dave and Grant Mailey; daughter-in-law Margaret Drury. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg, where she raised her family and many foster children. Dedicating her life to them all. Mom worked at numerous jobs, Winnipeg Clinic, Federated Fine Foods, Bonar and Bemis, and Eatons Parkade. After retirement she helped out at her daughters deli. Mom enjoyed being outdoors in her garden and feeding the birds. She loved singing and had a very beautiful voice which became a big part of her families lives. One of her biggest joys was to have her family members over to sing for her. She learned to drive at the age of 58 and was very proud to have the independence which allowed her to visit with family and friends. This meant a lot to her. Although mom has had many sorrows and hardships throughout her life, her children and their children gave her the greatest joy and happiness in life. Always wanting to cook meals and having a hot cup of tea, ready for anyone to walk through the door. It was our central meeting place for the family to gather bringing us lots of laughs and love. Mom always gave us a big hug and kiss and told us she loved us everytime we said goodbye. We love and miss her and she will be forever in our hearts. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 17 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Foundation in Merilyns memory.
