MOLLY ORVIS On Tuesday, October 14, 2003, Molly Orvis, beloved wife of the late Joseph Orvis, passed away peacefully, at Red River Place, Selkirk, at the age of 82 years. A resident of Selkirk since 1958, Molly was born at Canterbury, England, October 11, 1921, and came to Canada in 1946 as a British war bride. She resided at Grand Marais for a time, and then moved to Matheson Island, and then to Selkirk in 1958. During the war years Molly was a member of the British Land Army. In later years she worked as a nurses aide, for many years at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre. Mother enjoyed knitting, was an avid reader and very much enjoyed time spent in her garden, especially growing her roses. Mollys dogs were very special to her as well. Predeceased by her parents, Charles (1948) and Anne Allnutt (1934) step mother Ruby (1974) husband Joseph, (November 1980) parents-in-law, Isaac (1984) and Alice Orvis (1982). Left to mourn her passing is her children, Martin (Carol) of Great Falls, Sharron ONeill (Les) of Selkirk, Courtland (Amelia) of Winnipeg, and Sherree Sherwood of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Rose Thomas of Selkirk; brother-in-law Frank Orvis (Helen) of Selkirk. She will also be remembered by Greta Albury, Beryl Mason and Rhoda Elcome all of Great Britain. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Gilbart Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Sharman officiating. A private family interment was held at Notre Dame Parish Cemetery, Mapleton. Thank you to the staff of Red River Place Personal Care Home for the care provided to our Mother, a Special thank you to the second floor staff. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund, #6 Donald St. Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 9Z9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
