ELIZABETH MARTENS Elizabeth Martens, resident of Donwood Personal Care Home, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2003 at the age of 83. Elizabeth will be remembered by sister Tina (Heinrich) Hildebrandt; by brothers, Henry (Elizabeth), Dietrich, Gerhard (Olga) of Germany, Frank (Jane), John (Erna) and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by parents, Peter and Margaretha; oldest brother Peter; sisters-in-law, Anni and Anna and nieces, Anita, Debbie and Margaret. Elizabeth was born on August 8, 1920 in Neuendorf, Ukraine. In 1943 due to war and fear of persecution the family left their home and moved to Germany. Six years later the family immigrated to Canada settling in Niverville, MB. Moving to Winnipeg to find a job, she worked at Paulins Chambers until her retirement in 1984. Her hobbies included needlepoint, crocheting and lots of travelling. Funeral Service will be held at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St., at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 17. Viewing prior to the service. A great big heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Donwood Personal Care Home, 2 North who treated her with much love and affection.
