ALFRED ALEXANDER DOWNING It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our husband and father Alfred at his home in Beausejour on Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at the age of 83. Alfred is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Betty) of 30 years. He will be forever loved and remembered by his family; daughters, Linda (Dave), Diane (Dave), Sandra (Jack), Bev (Todd) sons, Victor, Bill and Howard Popiel; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother George, and sister Mary Berkowski. Alfred was predeceased by wife Eleanor; his parents, Mary and Joseph; sons, Rodney and Richard; brothers, Norman, Leonard and sisters, Ethel and Gladys. Alfred was born in Ashern, MB and resided in Winnipeg, Middlechurch, Ross and Beausejour. Alfred was a long time employee of the T. Eaton Co. on Portage Avenue until retirement. Special thanks to friends and neighbours and our nurse Madelene. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alfreds memory may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
