CECIL WILFRED GIBBONS October 19, 1910 - October 15, 2003 Peacefully, on Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Stonewall, with his wife by his side, Wilfred passed away at the age of 92. Wilfred was predeceased by his parents; his sister Francis (and her husband Edwin) sister Jessie in infancy; niece Edwina, all of Bermuda. Wilfred was born in Bermuda and he frequently visited Winnipeg to see relatives. During his visit in 1933 he met Audrey. They were later married in 1942. His first years in Manitoba were spent working at Dominion Bridge making shells for the war. Then in 1947, he started farming in the Stonewall area, retiring in 1959. They remained on the farm until 1983, when they moved to Stonewall and later to Lions Manor. Prayers will be on Sunday night, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, October 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Church of the Ascension, Stonewall. A private interment will follow at a later date. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Taplin, Walter Lawrence, Ivan Miller, Ken Taplin, Rick Morgan, Bruce Rutherford. Everyone in attendance is considered an honorary pallbearer. If friends so wish donations may be made in Wilfreds memory to the Church of the Ascension, Stonewall or the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Stonewall.
