JOHN KACHUR December 27, 1922 - October 16, 2003 The family sadly announces the peaceful passing of John Kachur. Predeceased by his parents and first wife Elsie. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Lily, daughter Lori and grandson Todd. Brothers, Steve, Paul and Joe; and sisters, Lena, Mary and Sylvia; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews all of whom he cherished. John was born in Amsterdam, SK. During the Second World War he served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1943 to 1945. Residing in Winnipeg, he worked for Canadian National Railway where he enjoyed a long and happy career as a Trainman. John always gave very generously of his time and energy to family, friends and charities. In keeping with Johns wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held from the chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 21 at 2:00 p.m., 4477 Main St. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens with reception to follow. Our family would like to thank Health Sciences Centre nurses and doctors, "our angels" who provided exemplary care and compassion for John during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
