JEAN IRVINE NOVAK SPARKS (nee CARLETON) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and aunt. Born January 16, 1913, Jean was the second baby born in the township of Neville, SK and the third child of Albert and Agnes (nee Connon) Carleton. Jean was raised on the family farm and attended school in Neville and later in Swift Current, SK. After school Jean went to work in Regina, then moved to Winnipeg where she worked at various jobs including the Childrens Home and Eatons. It was at Eatons that she met her husband William Lewis Sparks. Jean and Bill were married July 17, 1942 and resided in the West End on Valour Road. In 1953 they built their cottage at Whytewold Beach where they enjoyed their summers until Bills death in 1979. Jean continued to spend summers at the cottage until last year when her health kept her away. In 1983 Jean married Edward Bernard Novak from whom she separated in August 2002. Jean resided at the Betelstadur Seniors block maintaining her independence including baking bread until her hospitalization in September. Jean is survived by her only daughter Deborah and husband Larry Jones; the apple of her eye, grandson Sean Jones; Larrys children, Rhonda (Brian Gray) and great-granddaughter Chelsi Gray and Larry Jones Jr. She is also survived by her niece Pat Labossiere, Marianne (Roland) Abbors and nephew Lyle (Terry) Connon and their families as well as niece Debbie Loveday. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Grace Connon and Irene Copeland and by her nephew Robert Connon. Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
