EDWARD (ZIBBER) STANLEY JABLONSKI It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Edward Jablonski, aged 71 years on October 17, 2003 at the Selkirk General Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 46 years Edith and his three daughters, Judy, Teri (Ron) and Sharon (Jamie) his five granddaughters, Kara (Joe), Melissa, Kristy, Kayla and Cassidy; brothers and sisters, Victor, Fred, Theophil (Joan), Bernard (Val), Evelyn (Delbert) and Marcella; his brothers-in-law, Charlie and Ted (Evelyn) and sister-in-law Pat; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Katherine. Ed was born on October 30, 1931 and was raised in Highland Glen, MB, moving to Selkirk in 1957. He was employed with CPR for 30 years, retiring in 1987, only to find another job at Betel Home in Selkirk for the next 10 years. In his earlier years Zibber enjoyed playing Mens Senior A Fastball in Winnipeg before coming to Selkirk to play with the Selkirk Teachers. He had numerous stories to tell about those days and one of his favourite pitches was his change-up. He was proud to say he played in the first Pan-Am Games held in Winnipeg. His favourite pastimes were singing and playing guitar for his family and friends, puttering around the yard and garden, along with fixing his girls and granddaughters cars. He was a handyman for everyone. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. also in the Chapel with Rev. Canon Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Cremation will follow service and a private family interment of ashes will take place in the St. Clements Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Eds name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Ste. 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
