RUBY IDA STAPLES Peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Ruby Ida Staples of Portage la Prairie passed away at the age of 95 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 21 with the Rev. Marg Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery. Ruby was born on January 16, 1908, daughter of the late William and Ida Lytle at High Bluff, MB where she was raised and received her education. In 1930 she married Robert Staples and they farmed in the Oakville district. In 1971 they retired and moved to Portage where she had since resided. Ruby was a member of the United Church. She centered her life around her home. Among her interests she enjoyed working in the garden and helping with the farm. Predeceased by her parents, her husband in 1984; two brothers, Bert and Roy and three sisters, Ella, Elsie and Mary, she leaves to mourn her passing several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
